Ocean Care
Ocean Care, our sustainable commitment present throughout the collection with a seal that certifies it.
Ocean Care is the motto with which BOX San Sebastián has defined since 2019 the commitment acquired with the society to protect the planet.
Currently, Ocean Care is materialized in three projects: our interior lining of the entire collection with the sustainable fabric Ondas, the latest sustainable collection Frontoia and the sponsorship commitment acquired with two leading NGOs in research and conservation of the planet(Aranzadi Zientzia Elkartea and Surfrider Europe).
Frontoia Sustainable Collection
Based on the concept of circular economy, Frontoia is made with high quality polyester from marine plastic that is transformed into SEAQUAL® YARN after the recovery of post-consumer PET bottles rescued from marine litter by fishing fleets and other ocean clean-up programs.
With a casual and urban style, Frontoia is a collection of bags, backpacks and getaway bags, with careful leather details synonymous with distinction of the brand and designed for this collection. It finds its inspiration in the Basque frontons and the practice of the sport of pelota. With Frontoia, we give a second life to the plastics accumulated in the sea by joining the SEAQUAL® INITIATIVE manifesto: “Together for a clean ocean”.
UPCYCLED MARINE PLASTIC BY SEAQUAL® INITIATIVE, has the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex® certifications .
Ondas, our sustainable lining since 2019
In 1989 we designed the interior lining for our products. The same color as the sand of our beaches in San Sebastian, since 2019 we have made it sustainable, redefining its style and sketching ONDAS, which reproduces the shapes and silhouettes that the waves leave on the sand during low tide; sinuous waves intimately linked to the sea and that wrap our logo as if they were txalupas.
This innovative fabric, which is present in all our products as an interior lining, is made with ECONYL® regenerated nylon, from nylon waste that would otherwise pollute the Earth, such as fishing nets, surplus fabrics, carpets and industrial plastic.
Ondas is Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex® and bluesign® SYSTEM certified.
Patronage commitment to two reference NGOs
In addition to reducing our ecological footprint, it is essential for BOX San Sebastián that the OCEAN CARE project is reflected in society.
Since 2019, we have acquired a sponsorship commitment with two leading NGOs in research and conservation of the planet: Aranzadi Zientzia Elkartea and Surfrider Europe.
We allocate a portion of the price of each product sold from our collection to both NGOs.
